Presentations

A presentation is a slide deck generated from the board: its events, actors, narratives and evidence. You describe the audience and the angle; the assistant does the research and the design; you adjust by talking to it. Decks are saved with the board.

Open presentation mode with the slides button in the title bar or Ctrl+Shift+P.

Generating a deck​

  1. In the setup screen, describe what you want:

    A 10-slide briefing for the editorial board on the funding network, leading with the two strongest documented links and ending with open questions.

  2. Generation runs in two phases, both visible as they happen:

    • Research. A read-only agent explores the board with tools like get_board_overview, get_events, get_actors, get_narratives and read_node, gathers the material relevant to your brief, and finalizes a research summary.
    • Design. A second pass turns that research into slides, choosing a layout for each: title, content, media, timeline, two-column, quote or section. Media slides use images already on the board; timeline slides are built from dated nodes.

  3. The deck opens in the viewer.

Both phases use your main model, so a deck costs roughly what a few research turns cost.

Refining​

The chat beside the deck edits it. Ask for changes the way you would ask a colleague:

  • "Make slide 4 a two-column comparison of the two accounts."
  • "Add a timeline slide before the conclusion covering 2019-2021."
  • "Tone down the language on the sanctions slide; say alleged."
  • "Drop the quote slide."

Edits are applied as patches to the deck, so unrelated slides are untouched and the history is kept. Speaker notes are generated with each slide and shown with the notes toggle.

Presenting​

The viewer is a full reveal.js deck bundled with the app - no internet needed. Arrow keys or click to advance, Esc to minimize back to the board, Change theme to switch between Black, Dark, Night, Blood, Moon, League, Dracula, Solarized, Beige and Sky, with a white/simple/serif family also available to the designer.

Exporting​

The Export menu in the viewer offers:

  • Export PDF / Export PDF with notes - one page per slide (notes on facing pages if chosen), saved to your Downloads folder and revealed when done.
  • Export HTML (self-contained) - a single .html file with reveal.js, the theme, its fonts and every image and video embedded. It opens in any browser with no network connection and can be emailed or dropped on a shared drive; arrow keys navigate, O gives an overview, F goes fullscreen. Media larger than 40 MB is linked rather than embedded.

Saved presentations​

The setup screen lists every deck saved for the board. Open one to present or keep editing; delete with the trash icon. Presentations are included when you export the board and in backups, but are not synced to collaborators - share the HTML or PDF export or the exported board.

Tips​

  • A deck is only as good as the board. If the research phase reports thin material for a section, that's the board telling you where the gaps are.
  • Ask for a specific length and audience. "8 slides for a lawyer" and "20 slides for the newsroom" produce very different decks from the same board.
  • Put key images on the board as Media nodes first; the designer only uses images that already exist.
  • Dates drive the timeline layout. Events without dates and articles without a parsed publish date won't appear on timeline slides.
