Boards
A board is one self-contained investigation: its nodes and connections, narratives, AI conversations, presentations, feed subscriptions and media. Boards never bleed into each other - the assistant only sees the board that is open, and searches only within it.
The board select screen
You see it when the app starts and whenever you click the board name in the title bar. It lists your boards, most recently edited first, with node and narrative counts and the last-edited date.
For each board the row offers:

Underneath, New investigation creates a board (type a name, press Enter), and the
row of actions lets you Import a board from a .deepstate file, Apply changes from a
.deepstate-changes file, or Join a shared board with an invite code.
Your license tier and the app version are shown in the footer.
Board limits
Personal (and Team seats) can hold 5 boards; Pro and Enterprise are unlimited. At the limit the Create, Import and Join controls are disabled until you archive a board.
The default board
A default board is created on first run and marked as such. It behaves like any other board except that it cannot be archived and is never included when boards are synced to other devices - treat it as a scratchpad.
Archiving
"Deleting" a board archives it: the board and everything in it stays in the database and its media stays on disk, but it disappears from the list and from the AI. There is currently no in-app way to restore an archived board; if you need one back, restore from a backup taken before you archived it, or contact support. Export a board before archiving if there is any chance you will want it again.
Board metadata
Boards have a name, an optional description, a color and an icon. Rename from the board list; the other fields are set when the board is created or when it arrives through sync. These fields are synced between collaborators; the viewport (where you have scrolled and zoomed) is local to each device.
Switching quickly
Clicking the board name in the title bar opens the board list. The list has a search field that filters by name as you type, so with many boards it is fastest to click, type a few letters and press Enter.
What lives on a board
- Nodes - the 14 node types, including feed subscriptions and the articles they produce.
- Connections between nodes, each with a type, direction, optional label and reasoning.
- Actors, organizations and narratives - entities that can appear on the canvas as nodes but are also listed and editable in the context panel.
- AI conversations - every chat with the assistant, kept per board.
- Presentations generated from the board.
- Media - copies of every image, video and document you added, stored under the board's folder on disk.
Exporting a board captures all of the above. Syncing a board to collaborators shares nodes, connections and entities - not conversations, presentations or viewport.
